The Lincoln Railsplitters opened the season Tuesday afternoon on the road against the Ann Arbor Huron River Rats.
Huron jumped out to the early lead against the Lincoln starting pitcher, Jaylyn Bullock. They scored single runs in each of the first two innings.
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the third with two outs, Bullock drew a walk to load the bases and the wheels fell off for the River Rats. The next four batters walked, Trevor Jones got an RBI single, Cortland Montgomery was intentionally walked. Kyjuan Rice ripped a 2RBI single to complete the 8 run, 2 out rally.
Lincoln would tack on an insurance run in the 4th. In the bottom of the 4th Steven Rangle would relieve for Jaylyn Bullock. The two combined to hold the River Rats to 6 runs on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts.
Game two of the doubleheader was called due to darkness after 3 innings.
